A Praying Life

This Seminar explores Jesus’ simple yet powerful teachings on prayer to help badly praying Christians—that’s 99% of us—discover the joy of prayer. We practice becoming child-like, patterning our prayers after Jesus’ own teaching and prayers, using practical prayer tools. Most importantly, we make lots of time to pray and practice what we’re learning. If you’ve ever struggled with or felt defeated during prayer, this seminar is for you!

Each “Day Away” retreat event will consider a distinct theme that draw from several chapters of Alan Fadling’ s “The Unhurried Life.”

  • October 25, 2022: What drives you to be so hurried
  • January 10, 2023: Negotiating being called to work and that work not becoming our undoing
  • March 14, 2023: Launch practices to practice the unhurried life
  • April 25, 2023: Reflect on the unhurried life of Jesus who said at the end, “I have completed everything you have given me to do.”

Attention Along the Way

January 18, 2022 from 9am – 3pm

Eldon wrote the book, Spiritual Formation: Attention Along the Way. It will be given to each attender as a gift. Attentiveness is challenging in a hurried, fast-paced world, so this Day Away will focus on noticing the wonder around us and mindfulness of our surroundings and how God may be speaking from nature, experiences and our daily life that continues to shape and form our spiritual lives.

Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder teamed up to write RARE Leadership: 4 Uncommon Habits for Increasing Trust, Joy and Engagement in the People You Lead to challenge us to habits that strengthen our ability to relate to those we lead and build resiliency when facing the struggles of our communities.

This retreat will provide opportunity for pastor/leaders to engage the habits that build R.A.R.E. qualities in our leadership.
